The climbing of Mt. POW-MIA
![]() |
In
August 1999, the Alaska Historical Commission dedicated a previously
unnamed mountain in honor of America's POW's and MIA's,
Located at 61.27N /149.12W in Alaska's South Central
Region, Mt. POW-MIA rises to an elevation of 4,235ft msl and
lies directly behind (south of) the Wasilla
"Veteran's Wall of Honor". In August 2000, Fullhouse (Alaska State "P"), climbed Mt. POW-MIA. The POW-MIA Flag (pictured) fly's year around and is maintained by Colony High School ROTC cadets. The Cadets established a "sign in registry" inside the rock pile hidden in a carafe. The registry reads 8/16/00 "For all Brothers of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club, USA". |
